5 Unique Cocktails to Sip on in Dallas

Texas has birthed over a hundred unique cocktails, making it a destination for craft cocktail fans. While the Dallas area may be known its breweries, it’s the birthplace about a third of those cocktails.

If you’re looking to get a taste of Dallas, these must-try Dallas originals have made the city a cocktail destination.

Hit the Road Jack

Named the official 2018 cocktail of Dallas, this cocktail was created by Shoals Sound and Service‘s bartender Keisha Cooper. This drink is vegan-friendly and uses aquafaba, or the water that is found in a can of chickpeas, to imitate the frothiness of egg whites.

The Smoking Gun

Created by Eddie Campbell, one of the first bartenders to spark Dallas’ cocktail Renaissance, The Smoking Gun can be found at Parliament in Uptown Dallas. This drink will please fans of smoked cocktails and or bourbon drinkers.

The Unconventional Wisdom

Crafted by Brad Hensarling, the co-owner and bar manager of The Usual, this drink features bison grass infused vodka. The Usual was the first craft cocktail bar that opened in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and their signature drink has been a crowd favorite.

Mambo Morado

Inspired by a cocktail he had made for a competition, José’s Jonathan Garcia introduced Dallas to sotol, a little-known cousin of tequila and mezcal. The blueberry- and lavender-infused drink looks like a snow cone, but a bit of Campari helps to keep this drink from being too sweet.

Fleur de Feu

Austin Millspaugh’s creation looks sweet but tastes savory. The off-menu drink at The Standard Pour features St. Germain elderflower liqueur, Ancho Reyes Verde, and Angostura bitters and is topped with a layer of roasted layer of cream.
